Today, we are pleased to announce that Microsoft Mobile Advertising has begun piloting a new local ad product for mobile. This pilot is being conducted with Geodelic, a third party publisher of a location-based discovery application. We are conducting this pilot to gain insights into end user behavior and engagement with local mobile ad products.
This ad product is geared towards driving store traffic for our advertisers, as well as to provide consumers with easy access to store details, directions and local offers. The pilot will launch initially in 6 major U.S. metro areas including Los Angeles, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Seattle.
The advertisers included in our pilot belong to popular local categories such as restaurants, services, travel, and shopping. We are happy to announce that two of our participating pilot advertisers are Hyatt and Quiznos.
The ad creative for this product provides end users with a participating advertiser’s local business information such as Name, Address, Phone Number, URL, and Description. By clicking the ad the users can choose to select an advertiser’s website to find local business information or make a phone call.
This is a performance based ad product and is served through Microsoft Advertising’s industry leading adCenter platform. This pilot is part of our ongoing initiative to help our advertisers make mobile advertising effective for their business needs.
