Grow your business by advertising on MSN, Xbox, and more!
Today the Microsoft Advertising SDK compatible with Windows 8 RTM is available. This SDK release is for folks that are blocked on Windows 8 RTM breaking changes. It is important to note that this release does not include the full feature set of what will be in the Microsoft Advertising SDK official RTM drop in mid-September. For more details, browse our documentation here.
In other good news, some of you may have noticed that we have started enabling real advertisers. This means you may start accruing revenue for your applications and receiving payout. I would encourage existing developers to update your app categories in Pubcenter to reflect the Windows 8 App store categories. To receive payout, developers must also complete the Tax information in their account setup in Pubcenter.
Please note we are deprecating the following public properties and these would not be present in subsequent versions of the SDK.
CountryOrRegion
(Deprecated)
Gets or sets the two-letter country/region code to use for ad targeting.
Keywords
Gets or sets the keywords that target the audience for ads.
UserIdType
For Microsoft use only.
UserId
We are also going to start enabling some of the richer In-App ad experiences, so be on the look out for those in the coming months.
If you are using the XAML version of our Ad SDK and facing issues, please be sure to check out my blog post for more information.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for you participation in shaping the Microsoft Advertiser SDK for Windows 8.
Best,
Ian Ferreira - Group Program Manager - Ads R&D at Microsoft
